Terms of sale and licence
What you buy, from whom, and on what terms.
Who you buy from
Takt is made by David Karpik, named in the imprint. The full version of Takt is sold by Paddle.com Market Ltd, our merchant of record. Paddle is your partner for the purchase itself: the payment, the invoice and the VAT. Paddle's buyer terms and Paddle's privacy policy apply to that part. The right to play Takt comes from us, on the terms below.
Playing for free
Takt is free to play in your browser until 30 November 2026. After that, one city stays free to play. The free game is offered as it is. It may change, and we can't promise that it always runs without errors.
What you get when you buy
Preorders open at the end of October 2026. The full version costs €15 until 30 November 2026 and €19 after that, VAT included. In the US and Canada, sales tax is added at checkout.
The full version includes:
- ten cities: Berlin, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, New York, Toronto, Warsaw, Istanbul, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and London when it is released;
- every future update to the game, at no extra cost.
Your purchase gives you a personal right to play the full version, for private use, on devices you control, for as long as you like. This right can't be passed on to someone else. The code you receive is your proof of purchase.
You may not:
- sell, rent or give away your code, or post it in public;
- share your code beyond your own household;
- get around the code check, or copy the game's cities for use elsewhere.
You may record and stream your play, also in videos that earn money. You don't need to ask.
The game, its cities, texts and pictures belong to David Karpik. Buying the game gives you the right to play it, not to copy it.
Three devices
A code works on up to three devices at the same time. A device is a browser on a computer, so a new laptop or a cleared browser counts as a new one. You can free a device in the game, and it is free again at once. If you can no longer reach a device, write to support@playtakt.app and we free it for you.
To count devices, the game makes up a random number on each one. It says nothing about you or your computer.
Delivery
Your code comes by e-mail to the address you paid with, right after payment. You need no account. Enter the code once in the game.
Your games stay in your browser, not on our server. If you clear your browser's data, they are gone, and we can't bring them back. To keep a copy, save your game as a file from the game's save menu.
If your code doesn't arrive, write to support@playtakt.app and we send it again.
Updates and availability
Takt runs in your browser at playtakt.app. Every future update is included in the full version. If we ever stop running playtakt.app, we will not leave a bought game unplayable without giving you a way to keep playing it.
Liability
We are fully liable for intent and gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. For slight negligence, we are liable only if we break an essential duty of this contract, and then only up to the damage that is typical and foreseeable for a contract like this. Liability under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz) stays as the law sets it. These terms do not limit your rights as a consumer.
Which law applies
German law applies, without the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer living in the EU, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your own country.
You can ask for your money back within 14 days: see Refunds.
Changes and questions
We may update these terms. If a change affects what you bought, we tell you on this page at least 30 days before it applies. A change never takes away a city or an update you have already bought.
Questions about these terms: support@playtakt.app.
